Samsung galaxy s7 edge in 2020

Samsung flagships are no push over, I have been using the Samsung galaxy s7 edge for the past 2 weeks and I have to acknowledge that the build quality is still impressive, with a glass sandwich and metal frame, little prone to fingerprint especially if you have sweaty hands. The phone spots a 12 mp main camera with optical image stabilizer and more than average camera focus, a super amoled 5.5 inc display which seemed massive back then but not so now. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is a smartphone that was released in 2016 by Samsung Electronics. Here are some of its key features:

-Display: 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
-Processor: Exynos 8890 Octa-core processor or Snapdragon 820 Quad-core processor (depending on the region).
RAM: 4GB of RAM.
-Storage: 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
-Cameras: 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
-Battery: 3600mAh non-removable battery with fast charging and wireless charging capabilities.
-Operating System: Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo).
Other features: Fingerprint scanner, water and dust resistance (IP68), and curved edges on the display.

Pros

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was a popular smartphone when it was released, known for its powerful specifications, high-quality camera, and sleek design with curved edges.
Excellent design and build quality.
1. Great features such as heart rate sensor that would allow one to measure your real time heart rate and keep track of your health objectives
2. Powerful processor that allows you to breeze through every day use with no lags
3. Brilliant display with Super Amoled technology that produces vibrant colors and contrast for your media consumption.
4. Front mounted finger print scanner that is easily accessible and easy to set up.
5. In addition to wired charging the Galaxy s7 edge also has wireless charging

Cons

1.Smaller battery capacity 3600mah as compared modern budget phones even those manufactured by Samsung itself an example is the Samsung galaxy a50
2. Glass back is prone to finger prints, and cracks, although it relays a premium look, glass is not as durable as metal/aluminium.
3.No longer getting OS upgrades stuck at android 8 (oreo) and will not get later android operating systems update.
4.Micro USB, beginning from late 2019 mobile phones have been shipped with the USB-C which is considered superior and provides much faster data transfer.

Conclusion

Though the os is outdated and is no longer getting updates this is still a powerful handset that can run modern games and deliver a satisfactory user experience, consider also that prices have dropped greatly

Safaricom or Faiba, Mobile Phone data, Quantity or Quality

In Kenya most if not all have heard of this brands Safaricom and Faiba, the latter is popular for all telocom services that is voice and data including financial i.e. payment solutions as well as light banking. Safaricom was first Incorporated in 1997 currently it is the largest mobile network company in terms of customer base a whopping 35.6 million users, this is approximately 64,5% of the Kenyan market. The company is also the largest in terms of regional network coverage as well as infrastructure one can access Safaricom services from virtually anywhere in Kenya. Faiba on the other hand is a brand under JTL or Jami Telecom founded in the year 2000, not very well known but due to the almost close period of inception there is no issue in comparing its services to those of Safaricom, although JTL also offers voice and data  one cannot just insert a JTL simcard in any mobile phone and they are good to go there are currently over 200,000 users including this blogpost author. ...

Second hand phones in Kenya 5 point check, when purchasing

Second Hand Phone Purchase. Mobile phones are being manufactured year in year out, and consumers have a lot of options, the pressure to keep up with current trends may be overwhelming. In developed countries not only do consumers get comparatively better wages but Telcom companies have plans where one can purchase a mobile phone and make monthly payments and the overall cost remans considerably lower an example is T-Mobile, AT&T in both US and UK, the case is different in developing countries where average wage is miniscule. The average hourly wage in UK or the US is about $9 for a low skilled work opportunity compare this to a country such as Kenya where a skilled labourer earns about $1.5. The second hand market in Kenya is booming and especially in the mobile phone consumption, although not organised or regulated, its onset has been greatly maximised through the development of online buy and sell platforms, as well as social media that link sellers with buyers. Development of on...
