Iphone 6 in 2018

The smartphone industry is very dynamic, with the two most popular brands releasing a new flagship alteration on a yearly basis Apple (around September) and Samsung around August. So if you are like most people you may not want to be left behind. My take today is on the iPhone 6, is it a relevant purchase in 2018? The iPhone 6 is a smartphone developed and produced by Apple Inc. It was first released in September 2014 and features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, an 8-megapixel iSight camera, an A8 chip with 64-bit architecture, and runs on iOS 8

For the most part an iPhone 6 will leave you satisfied, but i will just review some of the things i have experienced while using this phone in 2018;

Camera - the phone spots a 8 megapixel, 1/3 inch sensor and a 1.2mp front facing camera. Apple are known to make good phone cameras and this does not disappoint. focusing is quick, average shots in low light and the selfies are good. Note the megapixel count only comes in handy when you want to scale images.

Battery - The battery is disappointing especially if you use mobile data a lot you may need to plug it on a charger twice a day the a810mAh is a lower capacity espesially in comparison to its main competitor the Samsung galaxy S5 which spots a 2800mah . current phones in 2018 have double the capacity.

Design - With an aluminium back and glass sandwich the phone feels premium and  although the large chin makes for a past appearance the phone still good to hold in the hands. 2018 feels like a year of new design for Apple as the company catches up to other companies that have almost eradicated the chin on phones.

Gaming/graphics - The iPhone 6 holds its own when it comes to gaming. The Apple A8 with a dual core chip at 1.4 GHz is a worthy contender in terms of normal day use and handles quite well. Gameplay is smooth and mortal kombat x on the device runs smooth as well as asphalt, there are no lags in game-play.

Fingerprint sensor - The touch id is very convenient once set you can log in to you device with a simple finger press on the home button and it works well even with sweaty fingers, and it front facing an idea that is still attractive to many users as compared to face ID on the iPhone X and onwards. Reparability is 8/10, but you should also transfer the old touch ID to your new screen otherwise the fingerprint functionality will be lost.

Now should you buy an iPhone 6 in 2018? since 2016  on release of the iPhone 7,this version has been discontinued in many countries and most of the offers are either used or refurbished so you can pick one up for about  ksh 18,000 ($178) - ksh 25000 ($248). If you are one who wants to enter the Apple experience the iPhone 6 is a good place to start however depending on your budget, there are alternative especially the iPhone 6s.

Safaricom or Faiba, Mobile Phone data, Quantity or Quality

  In Kenya most if not all have heard of this brands Safaricom and Faiba, the latter is popular for all telocom services that is voice and data including financial i.e. payment solutions as well as light banking. Safaricom was first Incorporated in 1997 currently it is the largest mobile network company in terms of customer base a whopping 35.6 million users, this is approximately 64,5% of the Kenyan market. The company is also the largest in terms of regional network coverage as well as infrastructure one can access Safaricom services from virtually anywhere in Kenya. Faiba on the other hand is a brand under JTL or Jami Telecom founded in the year 2000, not very well known but due to the almost close period of inception there is no issue in comparing its services to those of Safaricom, although JTL also offers voice and data  one cannot just insert a JTL simcard in any mobile phone and they are good to go there are currently over 200,000 users including this blogpost author. ...

Second hand phones in Kenya 5 point check, when purchasing

Second Hand Phone Purchase. Mobile phones are being manufactured year in year out, and consumers have a lot of options, the pressure to keep up with current trends may be overwhelming. In developed countries not only do consumers get comparatively better wages but Telcom companies have plans where one can purchase a mobile phone and make monthly payments and the overall cost remans considerably lower an example is T-Mobile, AT&T in both US and UK, the case is different in developing countries where average wage is miniscule. The average hourly wage in UK or the US is about $9 for a low skilled work opportunity compare this to a country such as Kenya where a skilled labourer earns about $1.5. The second hand market in Kenya is booming and especially in the mobile phone consumption, although not organised or regulated, its onset has been greatly maximised through the development of online buy and sell platforms, as well as social media that link sellers with buyers. Development of on...
